The curriculum for the residency program has been carefully constructed to provide each resident with thorough training in all facets of Emergency Medicine - preparing the graduate for a career in either academic or private practice Emergency Medicine.

Approximately 60 percent of each resident's training takes place in the Emergency Care Center of Grady Memorial Hospital. The remaining training is in areas chosen for their special relevance to Emergency Medicine.

The curriculum is continually reevaluated and updated to maintain the best possible educational experience available in Emergency Medicine. Entering residents can expect a curriculum similar to the current three-year rotation schedule outlined below. Defined educational objectives are outlined for each block and syllabus materials are provided to assist the residents in structuring their education.

The residency program in Emergency Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine is designed to meet all requirements of the American Board of Emergency Medicine and the Residency Review Committee of Emergency Medicine, the residency credentialing body of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Our residents have an excellent performance record on both the written and oral parts of the certifying examination.

The Emergency Medicine program is fully accredited by the ACGME, as is the Emory University School of Medicine and all of its residency programs. Emory fully supports the ACGME work hour requirements.
