RESIDENCY & EDUCATION Meet our Residency Director >>>
The Emory University Department of Emergency Medicine – one of the nation’s oldest, largest and best training programs in Emergency Medicine – is committed to providing excellent training in all aspects of Emergency Medicine. Our training programs are designed to incorporate the unsurpassed patient resources of a large inner-city hospital with the expansive academic resources of a premier university system and the state-of-the-art technology of a modern community setting. Our Emergency Medicine faculty includes many of the nation’s most accomplished clinicians, teachers, researchers, and leaders.
The Emergency Medicine Residency Program provides each resident with an essential knowledge base in all aspects of Emergency Medicine, including clinical practice, teaching, research, and administration. The program faculty and residents are committed to the proposition that an outstanding training program should be both rigorous and enjoyable and feel privileged to be able to provide care to a large, underserved, inner-city population.
We provide medical students with an introduction to the specialty of Emergency Medicine as well as the knowledge and training necessary to manage and treat the undifferentiated and acutely ill patient. Emergency Medicine and the emergency department are critical areas for the development of many skills essential to the practice of medicine, no matter what specialty medical students choose.
The Department of Emergency Medicine also offers a wide variety of postgraduate training opportunities in Toxicology, Emergency Medical Services, and International Health.
